February!?
22 February 2012

The last time I posted an update was January 1st… now we’re practically through February. I don’t even know where the time went! I’m on reading week right now, but for the most part when I’m in school all I think about is school. It seems a bit silly that I have this website if I’m just going to neglect it for six months of the year. Unfortunately I have no graphic related updates other than to tell you that I literally have NO graphic related updates. Nothing. The coolest thing I’ve done in photoshop in months is put three photographs on one canvas. No blending, no border, just stacked. I’ve been thinking about taking the site down. :(
In goal-setting related news, I started running! Actually, apparently I overdid it. I’m currently out with an injury to my feet from taking on more than they could handle. BUT as soon as that’s sorted out I’ll be back at it. :D
Here’s the February goal list. I definitely won’t make my running goal considering I’ve already been out a couple weeks - but I’m semi-keeping up with Fab Ab February! I just do whatever I’m supposed to be at if I miss a day (which I have, a lot). I’m doing it more for the arms than the abs - at the beginning of this month I couldn’t do a single pushup (sad I know). Last summer I wanted to climb this sculpture thing at the park and ended up getting a lift because I didn’t have the arm strength. This summer I’m climbing it myself.

January 1 2012. Does that seem as weird to everyone else as it does to me? It just feels like it came out of nowhere - but at the same time, I accomplished a lot this year. Things I had accepted as impossible, or put off again and again. I went vegetarian. I learned how to skate. I went an entire semester without a single all-nighter. It feels good. I have big plans for you, 2012.
I’m going to start running. Outside. Long distance. I’m going to do a handstand for the first time ever. Volunteer more. Read more. Boost my GPA. It’s going to happen, because I’m inspired and determined. My goal list every month this year will be based on the broader vision I’ve created for myself.
I think the key to New Year’s resolutions is to realize that “New Years” has nothing to do with it - other than being a friendly reminder to check up on your goals. My sister was on the couch watching a movie earlier today and she said to me “wow, I’ve failed my New Year’s resolution already.” How is that even possible? Today (well it’s 9 PM where I am) is January the 1st. And it’s a leap year! You have 365 more days to reach your 2012 goals. If 2013 gets here and all I did with my summer was fall off bikes more times than I can count, then I’ll be adding “learn to ride a bike” to my 2013 resolutions - but I’ll be that many wipeouts closer to actually doing it. These are my January baby steps towards being happier and healthier in 2012. If you set goals this year, evaluate yourself - next month, in six months, whenever. Be proud of your progress. There’s no such thing as failure.
What are your 2012 goals? What are your plans for making them a reality?
